All About Me

I was born in Raleigh, North Carolina while my dad was receiving his Ph.D. at N.C. State in textile engineering.  He completed his degree when I turned 5, and our whole family went back to South Korea.  Never having been good at humanities, I struggled to learn Korean.  And as soon as I got the hang of Korean, I immediately forgot english.

I was always a very curious child.  I refused to learn from the books and never excelled in class.  While I barely managed to be in the top 75% of the class, I was exceptionally good at the arts and sports.  My parents often times found me skipping tutoring sessions and instead doodling on papers or beating up neighborhood kids at the playground.  They were concerned that I would not survive the harsh South Korean educational system.  So they made the decision to send me back to the US when I turned 10.

I came back to the US with a childhood friend of mine, and stayed with his uncle's family in Chapel Hill North Carolina.  I lived with my "guardians' family" until I was accepted into the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics for my junior and senior year of college.
